A Psalm of Boaz
A Medical Students’ Praise
Capt. C. W. Fincher
February 2010
1 Sing unto the Lord all ye daughters of Zion, shout unto the Lord all ye mighty men, shout unto the Lord all ye that are in the congregation of the Most High for He has done many miraculous thing unto the children of men!
2 In sin I was conceived, at the joining of the ovum and spermatozoa, He formed me, the sins of my parents Adam and Eve where present even in this far off age.
3 Thou cushioned my small body in my mother’s womb with amniotic fluid so that I would not be bruised as she went to the temple to pay unto thee her tithes and offerings.
4 Thou 0 Lord where there with me when you formed the axons, dendrites and neurons to carry my future thoughts that only thou knowest from afar off. Thou were with me and formed with your tender hand my tiny brain to connect to the nervous system that would one day give me movement.
5 Sing praise to the Lord for His hands that though He can cause mountains to explode with fire and brimstone with just the touch of His finger; He builds the heart of man with tenderness.
6 Sing unto the Lord with a loud voice, He who causes the atrium and ventricular valves to work in harmony, in order to send blood to all my members.
7 0 that I had breath so that I might praise the Lord Most High, but alas, His tender hand is still forming my lungs within my thoracic cavity, one day, even the day of my birth, I will cry in joy to the God who has given me life!
8 The Lord most High has chosen me of all men to be used of Him in a future time; He has formed my cranium, vertebrae and pelvis so that I may sit upright in the congregation of the righteous.
9 He has formed out of the dust of the earth my planges and metaplanges so that one day I may wriggle them in the cool mud of the River Jordan!
10 He has caused my femur, tibia and fistula to be strong as the mighty bows of the army of King David and to allow me to enter into the congregation of the redeemed on my own accord.
11 0 sing unto the Lord 0 ye chosen of the Most High God, for He is our redeemer and sustainer, from our beginnings unto our ending.
12 The Lord of Heaven knit together my humerus, radius and ulna with the finest yarn man has ever known!
13 The Lord of Heaven made my planges and metacarpals and joined them so that in praise and worship of His Holiness I may raise them in tribute to the wonders He has wrought.
14 Sing unto the I..ord all ye daughters of Zion, shout unto the Lord all ye mighty men, shout unto the Lord all ye that are in the congregation of the Most High for He has done many miraculous thing unto the children of men.
15 The Lord God took His finger and carved within my abdomen the furrows that would become my duodenum, ileum and colon.
16 With just the mere depression of His finger tip, my stomach was formed. Now I could taste of the goodness of the earth.
17 The congregation of the Most High rejoiced when my parents said it was a boy child! The Lord has given us a boy child!
18 Praise be unto all ye daughters of Zion when your children are born and suckle at your mammary papules!
19 Let us go into the house of the Lord and offer unto Him the praise and worship due unto Him, for only He is worthy of our praise!
20 Praise ye the Lord for the perfect and miraculous assembly of our body parts.
21 Praise the Lord for the covering of skin that shields me from the sun, rain and wind and things that would cause this body to become sick and weak.
22 Praise the Lord for the dermis, epidermis and subcutaneous layers that allow us to move in worship as we dance before Him in praise to His mighty acts!
23 Praise the Lord for the hair He has covered my body with; it senses danger and yet can feel the cool breeze upon my arm on a hot and sultry day.
24 Praise the Lord for the hair upon my face and head, for one day I will be as the ancients, white with hoarfrost and the young will come to me for wise council.
25 0 it is good to give praise to the Lord, for He has done many mighty works amongst His congregation!
26 0 Lord, you gave me eyes that I might see your creation, the hills, rocks and desert streams. The sky above is just the hem of your robe; the stars and planets that are hung in the blackness of night are your belt.
27 0 Most High, you created the optic nerves and optic chiasms to carry the wonders of your world to my brain so that I might behold your glory and worship You alone!
28 Sing unto the Lord all ye daughters of Zion, shout unto the Lord all ye mighty men, shout unto the Lord all ye that are in the congregation of the Most High for He has done many miraculous thing unto the children of men!
29 You caused the pinna to remove itself from my temple so that sound would be caught by them and with a piece of straw, you formed my auditory canal.
30 You formed the malleus, incus, stapes and ossicles with a tender puff of Your breath as you held them in Your Mighty hands.
31 With these, the tiniest of members, 0 Lord, I can hear the call to assemble at your house to worship you; with these tiny members in their hidden place I can hear the faint call of a far off bird or hear the mighty sound of a raging thunderstorm!
32 0 Lord Most High, you are to be praised above all gods! For there is none like you in all of the world!
33 Praise the Lord of Heaven that gives to me the ear to hear His voice when He comes calling with His still, soft voice that He often speaks to His chosen ones with.
34 It is good to be chosen of the Lord, even before ones birth! It is a wonderful thing to have as your maker and sustainer the Lord of Hosts!
35 Now therefore, let us go forth from this time and place rejoicing in the Lord God, Creator of all the seen and unseen things. Creator and designer of our countless body parts, so exquisitely framed together!
36 Let us give breath to the praise of our God. Let us lift our strongly knitted arms unto His Heaven! Let us use our strong legs to travel abroad to tell the heathen of His ways.
37 It is good to praise our God for He alone is worthy of our praise. Hallelujah!
38 Amen!

Loaves & Fish
The Feeding of Five Thousand Souls.
Luke 9:10-17
Capt. C. W. Fincher
Spring 2005
The disciples came to Jesus, telling of wonders done in His name.
Jesus said, let’s go out in to the desert and I’ll explain more to you.
But because of Jesus fame, the crowds came.
More than a crowd came, a multitude, because great was Jesus fame!
They brought the weak, sick, lame, all who had aches and pains.
Jesus with His heart of love could not turn them away.
He took whatever time He needed to explain about the kingdom of God.
He healed the sick, all that where there.
None wanted for anything.
They feasted on His words, His touch, still their souls wanted more.
Jesus taught and taught, their souls soaking it in as a sponge.
Till late in the day, He’d had enough.
The people could take no more; they needed food for the body, not the soul.
The Master tells His twelve, you feed them!
He already knows what He will do!
They reply, we only have five loaves and two fish.
What is that amongst so many?
Jesus tells them to all sit down in groups of fifty.
He asks God’s blessings on the food and starts to work.
One, two, three, we need more baskets the cry goes out! We need more baskets!
Soon all are fed, not a hungry stomach can be heard.
Anyone want more? There are twelve baskets left!
All this from five loaves and two fish!
Their stomachs full, it’s time to go home.
Jesus knows that unless our bodies are fed, we often do not listen to His words, our soul’s greatest need.
We need to feed on His words of Life!
They will keep us alive long after our bodies have turned to dust.
