Captain's Quill
First things first.
A city born Floridian reared on the plains of Wyoming, later to return to the city in Florida. Experienced life in the sky as a civil aviation pilot, water as a sailboat operator and the land as a ranch hand. Experienced life and death in the cities and countryside of Haiti. Recieved the new birth in Jesus Christ in 2003. Attended Bible college at age 48 and life as an older student in medical college in 2010. Now I combine my knowledge of theology with my knowledge of medicine to write research papers and short stories. I have been married 20 years and have one daughter.
A Word from the Captain
Thank for visiting my web site! Please look around and see if you find anything to your liking. Let me give you a bit of history before you leave this area and start exploring on your own.
Why the Captains Quill? Isn’t that an odd name for a writer you ask? This site is not about ships and airplanes, just writing and poetry and theology!
In my younger days I was working at my local airport as service technician, I’d refuel the planes, answer the airport radio, and wait on the customers and whatever else needed to be done that day.
I had just finished getting my private pilot’s license and was spending a lot of time in the air flying an old worn out Piper J-3 Cub.
One day one of the customers said, “There goes Captain Corky!” The name has been with me for over twenty years!
Then as my life progressed, I spent several years selling seafood for a local grocery store chain, I would wear a captains hat while working, people would call me captain! Even a few years later after being gone from the store, those who know me still call me captain.
Let’s not forget my time sailing boats! No not the big multi-masted type! I could only wish! Simple, small craft, Sunfish and 16’ Hobe Cats where my choice.
So by now as I started writing more and more, the name has stayed with me. I have tried to distance myself from it, to no avail.
What this site is about is me! Not the glorification of how great I am or have become, but of who I am deep within my soul. This comes out in my writings, I pull no punches nor do I write to impress.
My lovely wife of nearly twenty years calls me “an old soul”. I was adopted and raised by my grandparents and then I grew to love and cherish the old ways of doing things, by hand, with simplicity.
Though I love some of the new technologies, computers for instance allow me to write to you with much greater ease and accuracy than before they were invented. Yet I still prefer quill and ink as my choice writing tools. I will not lead you astray and lead you to believe that I own such fine tools of the trade; I have not been blessed to own a set.
This site is about my love of God and His Son Jesus Christ. It comes out in my writing in various forms, whether in poetry, research papers or other such mediums that you will find here.
My desire is that you the reader come to know my God as I have. The gospel of Jesus Christ is this.
He came, He died and He rose from the dead! That is as complicated as it gets. Believe these things and accept Him as your only way to heaven or reject Him as “The Way” and pay for your sins with your own life in hell forever!
If you have any questions about this, then please do not hesitate to get a hold of me, I will help you come to know my Savior as your own.
It is He that I seek in the morning, it is He that I to serve throughout the day, it He that I say goodnight to at the end of the day and it is He that I await for with my whole being to return for His Bride, the true church of Christ!
